鈥淭his is finally an event that we can throw that is safe and people can enjoy thoroughly, not just with restrictions and regulations," Hagel said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e really looking forward to it and seeing everybody out [celebrating].鈥�

鈥淚t鈥檚 so easy for people to bulldoze and fill our land sites up, that doesn鈥檛 save anything,鈥� Clark said. Saving a hotel like this, the oldest building in their community is huge for the community.鈥�

鈥淲e always look to what the need is in the community, and we build our programs based on what the children and the youth want to see in those communities,鈥� Omarshide said. 鈥淪o we always offer community education sessions or drop-in programs."

Though the event was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and shifted towards an online auction last year, this year鈥檚 event is hoping to see a return to pre-pandemic popularity. 聽

The open forum discussion held at the 鈥渨hite church at the coulee鈥� on Oct. 18 was designed to start a conversation about the site following Reverend Ruth McArthur鈥檚 retirement.

鈥淗e鈥檚 well aware of the issues in Town and I think all of council and Doug are going to get along just great. I think the Town will begin to move forward after losing our CAO, Barry Hutchinson,鈥� Bryson said.

鈥淭he [L.M. Montgomery] book has been here for quite a long time, actually, so for us it was rediscovering it, I suppose," McElroy said.

An email from the Town's lawyer indicated the court 鈥渄ismissed the entirety of Katelnikoff鈥檚 claim,鈥� and added the plaintiff 鈥渉ad not proven that the Town of Irricana was negligent and had not proven any of her alleged damages.鈥�

Two quick-thinking boys from Irricana were among seven young people recognized by the City of Calgary for being 'Young 911 Heroes' at an event at the TELUS Spark Science Centre last month.
